HanziCrush Privacy Policy
Effective 22 September 2026. Applies to the HanziCrush app (versions 1 and 2) and the website hanzicrush.lampbotics.com.
1. Who is responsible
HanziCrush is published by LampBotics LLC ("we", "us"). For anything about privacy, write to contact@lampbotics.com. We answer within one month.
2. The short version
- The app collects no personal data and sends nothing anywhere. It has no accounts, no internet permission on Android, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting.
- Everything the app remembers (a child's nickname, avatar, progress, handwriting shapes, drawings and your settings) stays in the app's private storage on your own device. We cannot see it.
- The only way anything leaves the device is when you press a share or save button yourself.
- You can delete everything from inside the app or by uninstalling it.
3. What the app stores on your device, and why

A nickname can be anything; it does not need to be a real name, and we suggest it is not. None of this is ever transmitted to us or to anyone else by the app. Android's automatic cloud backup is turned off for this app, so it is not copied to your Google account either. On iOS, the app's data is included in your own device backups under Apple's rules, which you control in your device settings.
4. What leaves the device only when you ask
- Saving a moving picture (GIF) of a drawing or of a written character to your photo library. The file contains only the picture. On iOS the system asks your permission the first time.
- Sharing a moving picture through the system share sheet, for example to a family chat. Where it goes is decided by you and the app you send it to.
Nothing is sent to LampBotics LLC in either case.
5. What the app does not do
No data collection, transmission or sale. No internet access (the Android release build does not request the internet permission). No advertising or advertising identifiers. No analytics or tracking. No accounts or sign-in. No camera, microphone, contacts or location access. No in-app purchases. No notifications. No profiling or automated decisions about you or your child.
6. Children
HanziCrush is made for children aged about 3 to 6 and is meant to be used with a parent or guardian. We designed it so that there is no personal information from children to collect, store remotely or disclose, which is the approach recommended by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Article 8, the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the UK Age-Appropriate Design Code and the Google Play Families policy. Grown-up screens are separated from the child's screens. A child's acceptance is never used as consent for anything.
7. Your rights under the GDPR and similar laws
Because the app sends us nothing, LampBotics LLC holds no personal data about you or your child and is not a data controller or processor for what the app stores on your device. That storage is your household's own use of your own device.
You still have every right the law gives you, and here is how each one works in practice:
- Access and portability. All the data is on your device. The grown-ups' corner shows progress and handwriting; drawings and moving pictures can be saved to your photo library.
- Rectification. A grown-up can change a nickname, avatar, age band and settings at any time.
- Erasure. A grown-up can reset a child's progress, remove a child profile (which also deletes that child's handwriting recordings), delete individual drawings, or uninstall the app to remove everything.
- Objection and restriction. There is no processing by us to object to or restrict.
- Complaint. If you believe we have handled personal data wrongly, you may complain to your local data protection authority (in the EU, the authority of your member state; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). We would rather hear from you first at contact@lampbotics.com.
If you email us, we process your email address and what you write only to answer you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in supporting the app, and we delete the correspondence within 90 days of closing the request unless the law requires us to keep it.
8. Security
The app keeps its files in the private storage area the operating system reserves for it, which other apps cannot read on an unmodified device. Saves are written atomically with a backup copy so a crash cannot corrupt progress. The app has no network path, so there is nothing to intercept. Protecting the device itself (screen lock, updates) is in your hands.
9. The website
hanzicrush.lampbotics.com consists of static pages served from our own server. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Your language choice is remembered in your browser's local storage and never sent to us. Like any web server, ours receives the IP address and request details of visitors while serving pages; these standard connection logs are kept for at most 30 days for security and then deleted. No third-party content is embedded.
10. Content and software made with AI tools
HanziCrush was developed with Claude Code, an AI coding tool, under human stewardship by LampBotics LLC. Pictures, voices and stories in the app were produced with AI tools on our computers before the app was built, and then edited by us. No user data was involved in any of this. The app itself contains no AI, runs no AI and sends nothing to AI services.
11. International transfers
None. No data is transferred anywhere by the app. Support email is handled by us in the United States; if you write from the EU or UK, your email is transferred to us only because you sent it, to answer you.
12. Changes
If the app's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects privacy, we will update this policy, change the effective date above, and ship the new text inside the app before releasing that version.

昵称可以随意取，不必是真名，我们也建议不要用真名。以上任何信息都不会由应用传给我们或任何人。本应用已关闭 Android 的自动云端备份，因此也不会复制到你的 Google 账号。在 iOS 上，应用数据会按 Apple 的规则包含在你自己的设备备份中，由你在设备设置里控制。
4. 只有在你要求时才会离开设备的内容

- 通过系统分享功能发送会动的图片，例如发到家庭群。发到哪里由你和你选择的应用决定。
两种情况下都不会有任何内容发送给 LampBotics LLC。

法律赋予你的每一项权利仍然有效，实际操作方式如下：
- 查阅与可携带。 所有数据都在你的设备上。“家长”页面可查看进度和笔迹；画作和会动的图片可以保存到相册。

- 反对与限制。 我们没有任何处理行为可供反对或限制。
- 投诉。 如果你认为我们处理个人数据有误，可以向你所在地的数据保护机构投诉（欧盟为所在成员国的机构，英国为信息专员办公室 ICO）。我们更希望你先写信给 contact@lampbotics.com。
如果你给我们写邮件，我们只会为了答复你而处理你的邮箱地址和邮件内容，依据是我们支持本应用的正当利益；除非法律要求保留，我们会在问题处理完毕后 90 天内删除相关邮件。
8. 安全
应用把文件保存在操作系统为其保留的私有存储区，在未经改装的设备上其他应用无法读取。保存采用原子写入并保留备份副本，崩溃不会损坏进度。应用没有网络通道，因此没有可被拦截的内容。保护设备本身（锁屏、系统更新）由你负责。
9. 网站
hanzicrush.lampbotics.com 是由我们自己的服务器提供的静态页面。它不设置 Cookie，不运行统计分析。你的语言选择只保存在你浏览器的本地存储中，绝不会发送给我们。与任何网络服务器一样，我们的服务器在提供页面时会收到访问者的 IP 地址和请求信息；这些标准连接日志出于安全目的最多保留 30 天后删除。网站不嵌入任何第三方内容。
10. 使用 AI 工具制作的内容与软件
HanziCrush 由 AI 编程工具 Claude Code 在 LampBotics LLC 人员的指导与把关下开发。应用中的图片、语音和故事由 AI 工具在我们的电脑上生成，在应用打包之前完成，之后经我们编辑。以上过程都不涉及任何用户数据。应用本身不包含 AI、不运行 AI，也不向任何 AI 服务发送内容。
11. 跨境传输
没有。应用不向任何地方传输数据。支持邮件由我们在美国处理；如果你从欧盟或英国来信，你的邮件只因你的发送而传到我们这里，用于答复你。
12. 变更
如果应用的行为发生任何影响隐私的变化，我们会更新本政策、修改上方的生效日期，并在发布该版本之前把新文本放进应用里。
